The Small Print on Cookies
Cookie pages are usually long because websites use a lot of cookies. This one stays brief because the opposite is true here. On The Spot Magazine does not place advertising cookies, analytics cookies or any other kind of tracker on your device.
The one thing we store
When you first visit, a small notice asks whether you are happy with how the site handles storage. Whichever button you press, your browser saves that answer in its local storage, a small area on your own device that websites can use to remember settings. It lets us avoid showing the notice again on every page you open.
| Stored item | Kept in | Why it is there | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your cookie notice choice | Your browser's local storage | Stops the notice from reappearing | Until you clear it |
This entry is not a tracking identifier. It does not contain your name or any detail about you, it is not sent to us, and it is not shared with anyone. It simply records that the question has been answered.
What we do not use
- No analytics or statistics cookies.
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No social media tracking cookies.
- No outside scripts dropping cookies of their own.
Changing your mind
You can remove the stored choice at any time by clearing the site data for this website in your browser settings. In most browsers the option sits somewhere among the privacy controls. On your following visit the notice simply pops up once more, ready for a new answer. Browsing in a private window has the same effect, since local storage is wiped when the window closes.
Why the magazine skips trackers
A magazine about weekend plans has no need to follow readers around the internet. We would rather spend our time on better guides to picnics, garden games and day trips than on dashboards full of visitor numbers. Keeping the site free of trackers also makes pages lighter, so they load quickly on a phone at the park or on a patchy train connection.

Our articles sometimes link elsewhere. Once you land on another website, its own cookie rules apply instead of this note.
